Context Statement: The arts have the power to enrich, educate, and inspire – enabling us to transform our environment and connect with our community. Cultural differences contribute to the vibrancy of our communities and our overall well-being. These elements craft our unique identity as a region and set us apart from other places.
Sub-Issues (in order of priority): Multiculturalism; Cultural institutions & facilities (incl. museums); Public spaces/art display; Level of support from local governments; Size & strength of the cultural industry; Participation in & support for the arts
List of Proposed Indicators:
- Employment in cultural industries and occupations
- Number of cultural organizations, committees & facilities
- Festivals and events: number and attendance
- Cultural Volunteers
- Income earned by cultural workers
- Population with visual arts as major field of study
- Government support for the arts
