Getting Around

Context Statement: The ability to get around is central to our quality of life, our environment and the health of our local economy. The capacity, effectiveness, and efficiency of bus, boat, and taxi systems play an important role in moving goods and people of all ages, origins, and ability around our community.

Sub-Issues (in order of priority): Goods Movement; Accessibility; Public Transportation Quality and Capacity; Airport Expansion; Vehicles, Roads and Traffic Congestion; BC Ferries; Road Safety/Access for Alternative Means; Population Density and Land Use; Modal split; Cost and Equity; Air quality / Greenhouse gas emissions

List of Proposed Indicators:

  1. Mode of transportation (car, bike, etc.) to work/school
  2. Population density
  3. Commuting Flows and Distances
  4. Transit service: rides per hour/per capita ridership
